House cleaning in Brighton, CO
Sparkles-N-Shine Cleaning is a family-owned company based in nearby Thornton. This page gathers what the City of Brighton says on its own website about its history, its Trash Bash large-item event, and its rules for waste haulers, and shows where a house cleaning or a move-out clean fits in.
About the area
A farm town that became the county seat
The city’s government page says Brighton was incorporated in July 1887 and became a home-rule city in 2000, with a council-manager form of government. Under that form, the elected council sets policy and the city manager, whom the council appoints, runs the administration.
The city’s historic preservation page tells the longer story. It says farmers who came to Colorado for gold found better fortunes raising food for mining communities, and that irrigation ditches carried water to the drier farmland around the river bottoms. Brighton was selected as the county seat of Adams County in 1904, and the page says the first county courthouse, at 4th Avenue and Bridge Street, now serves as city offices.
The same page describes the “truck farms” along the South Platte River that grew cabbage, tomatoes, celery, and pickles for Denver, and an agricultural processing industry that served northeastern Colorado. It notes that Brighton was home to important statewide Japanese organizations, including the Japanese Farmers Association of Colorado, organized in 1909.
It also says Brighton was the closest established town to the new Denver International Airport and grew quickly in the 1990s. Houses built across so many decades differ a lot, and the standard, deep, and premium deep levels let each home get the clean it needs.
Good to know
Trash Bash, haulers, and recycling in Brighton
Brighton’s large-item program is the Trash Bash Drop-Off Program, offered twice a year, in spring and fall, to City of Brighton residents only. The city page says you need a Brighton water bill or other proof of residence and a photo ID. It accepts furniture, cabinets, mattresses and box springs, appliances other than refrigerators and freezers, bicycles, cut-up carpet, doors, lawn equipment, branches, and nail-free lumber under 8 feet long.
The same page lists what the event does not take: household trash, concrete and home improvement debris, grass clippings, televisions, computers, air conditioners, freezers, microwaves, refrigerators, paint, motor oil, pesticides, chemicals, and anything with unknown contents in a sealed container. For the elderly or people with special needs, the city offers a pickup service on set days before the event, by phone request.
Trash service is a different system. A city news release says Brighton keeps an open-market waste collection system, so residents and businesses choose their own waste hauler. In July 2026 the city council approved an ordinance that sets licensing standards for haulers. The release says haulers that provide regular residential trash collection will be required to offer recycling at no additional charge, at least every two weeks, in coordination with Colorado’s producer responsibility program.
The city’s waste diversion page adds that Brighton is still researching the best ways to expand access to recycling and composting, and that it lists community waste disposal sites for residents.
