House cleaning in Aurora, CO
Sparkles-N-Shine Cleaning is a family-owned company based in Thornton and serving the Denver metro area. This page gathers what the City of Aurora says on its own website about its history, trash service, dumpsters, and short-term rentals, and shows where a house cleaning or a move-out clean fits in.
About the area
A city that began as the town of Fletcher
The city’s history page says Aurora was incorporated as the town of Fletcher on April 30, 1891. It was four square miles of prairie, named after a developer, Donald Fletcher, and it had 39 residents, the beginnings of a water system, and 14 new brick homes with indoor plumbing. A drought ended the water system, the Silver Panic of 1893 cut property values, and the town renamed itself Aurora in 1907. In 1928 the Colorado Secretary of State recognized Aurora as a city.
The same page says growth boomed after World War II, mainly because of three military bases: Lowry Air Force Base, Fitzsimons Army Hospital, and Buckley Air Base. It describes the army hospital built in 1918 east of town and the Lowry base opened in 1938 southwest of town. The city also notes that Aurora now covers more than 165 square miles.
The city’s about page says that area reaches into three counties: Arapahoe, Adams, and Douglas. It describes a full-service city with a council and manager form of government, four school districts, and neighborhoods with tree-lined streets, open prairie, and ample parks. It lists two reservoirs, including Aurora Reservoir, which has an eight-mile trail that is open year-round.
With houses spread over that much ground, the age and the size of a home depends on the part of the city. The online quote asks for the size of your home and the level of clean, so the price follows the home and not the zip code.
Good to know
Trash service, dumpsters, and rentals in Aurora
The city’s trash and recycling page is direct: residential trash and recycling pickup is not a city-provided service. Residents, homeowner associations, or the management company of a multifamily building must arrange service with one of the haulers the city has licensed. The city adds that listing a company is not an endorsement. It also says every home in Aurora must have weekly trash service, and that containers should be stored in the garage, the backyard, or a screened rear side yard out of view of the street.
For a clean-out or a move, the dumpster rule matters. The city says storage pods and dumpsters are not allowed on the public street. They may be considered for private property, including a driveway, through the city’s Temporary Use Permit program.
On yard waste, the city says it is a violation of city code to blow or sweep leaves, grass clippings, or weeds into the street, sidewalk, gutter, or alley. It names two licensed haulers that offer organics and yard waste service in a limited number of zip codes.
For leftover paint and chemicals, the city’s page lists free paint recycling events run by Aurora Water and its partners, and a year-round household chemical pickup program through Waste Management. It also says Waste Management has a drop-off program for residents in a time crunch, such as a relocation or a home sale.
The city’s landlord page covers short-term rentals. It says a short-term rental is permitted in residential areas as a home occupation, which means it must be the resident’s primary residence, and that a homeowner association may prohibit it. A city business license is required, and the city’s lodger’s tax must be collected. Only one listing or booking at a time is allowed.
